REBEL TRAILS DUATHLON : (10k Run – 20k Bike – 5Run), with a RELAY OPTION wherein 2 man teams can participate with one competing in the MTB XC, and the other, competing at the Trail Run.
MAD SCRAMBLER RIVER RACE : A special, limited event, offered to the top 10 single finishers of the Rebel Trails Duathlon. An experimental race at best, the Mad Scrambler’s unique aspect of opening options to the racer to either run, climb, swim, or as the moniker suggests – scramble through the unique river catchment terrain, in getting to the finish line, may establish a whole new style of outdoor/ trail competition.
ASSAULT ON DAGOHOY HILL (Tactical Paintball Wargames) : Will pay tribute to the proud history of Dagohoy’s military operations in Danao. Competing teams will attempt on achieving what the Spanish colonial forces failed to do for 86 long years – capture Dagohoy’s hillfort on the Wahig river gorge. To play the part of Dagohoy’s resistance fighters who will be defending Dagohoy hill against the day-long onslaught are the cream-of-the-crop of the Philippine Army– Special Forces 2nd Battalion.

In time for the One La Salle Centennial Celebration, this project is an opportunity and a challenge to connect all 17 La Salle schools by bike, covering more than 1,500km from the northern most school in Bagac, Bataan (Jaime Hilario Integrated School-La Salle) in Luzon, to the southern most in Surigao Del Sur, Mindanao (De La Salle John Bosco College).
The project aims to raise PHP1.5M thru pledges and sponsorships as every 100 meters of this journey corresponds a PHP100 donation. 100% of the funds will be used for scholarships and various PCN environmental related campaigns like tree planting and carbon footprint reduction awareness.
Riding bicycles across the Philippine’s three major islands is a statement – to inspire change, unity, and awareness. Green is not just a color, it’s an active lifestyle.
Pledges:
PHP 100.00 = 100 meters | PHP 300.00 = 300 meters | PHP 500.00 = 500 meters
PHP 1,000.00 = 1 km | PHP 3,000.00 = 3km | PHP 5,000.00 = 5km

Press Release
Philippine hospitality, ingenuity and its unbelievably beautiful scenery will once again be showcased before the world when Alaska Milk stages the Olympic-distance Century Tuna 5i50 Triathlon Series Philippines on June 24 at scenic Subic Bay.
Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) President and CEO Fred Uytengsu, through Sunrise Events, Inc. (SEI), introduces the Olympic-distance triathlon race (1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run) to local shores. This is the first 5i50 distance triathlon sanctioned by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) to be held in Southeast Asia.
“Our aim with this event is to encourage even more people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and embrace multisport training and racing. While we recognize that people may have an Ironman or Ironman 70.3 event as a ‘bucket list’ item, we also realize that you need to start somewhere and this event does exactly that. The distance is challenging for the novice triathlete and we hope to encourage many individuals to start with this distance,” said Uytengsu.
The two-time Ford Ironman World Championship finisher said he hopes to attract more participants in the sport by staging this shorter distance as well as holding relays with separate participants in the swim, bike and run legs of the race.
“We will have several categories in the relay division. We believe that by offering relays, we will end up getting full-fledged triathletes from this group as these participants will discover the joy and challenge of completing all three disciplines,” said Uytengsu.
The entire race will be within the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), a former US Naval base and one of two former major military bases of the United States in the Philippines.
“We are pleased that Subic Bay has agreed to be our host venue for 2012 until 2014. Although Subic Bay has been host to many multi sport events, we will make it our challenge to make the 5i50 another world class production,” said Uytengsu.
Participating triathletes can say they have swum in majestic Subic Bay where mighty battleships were once moored surrounded by breathtaking mountains.
These mountains too will pose another daunting challenge during the bike leg which will feature some vicious climbs.
And like the other run legs in triathlons run in the Philippine, the 10k run route will be lined with spectators, giving the athletes that extra boost from cheering crowds that will help them complete the 51.5 kilometer distance.
Title sponsor is Century Tuna, the leading tuna brand in the Philippines. Other sponsors are Alaska Milk, 2XU, David’s Salon, Gatorade, Intercare, Oakley, Timex, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and media partners Philippine Star and Multisport Magazine.

Globe Telecom greens Cordillera through a bike challenge
PRESS RELEASE
Globe Telecom mounts the third Globe Cordillera Challenge on May 5, 2012, an event which aims to raise awareness for the need to protect and rebuild our mountains’ forest areas and challenge recreational bikers to race for the environment. This year’s bike challenge will support 20 seedling nurseries for the greening of the Cordillera mountains, one of Northern Luzon’s major watersheds.
Globe Bridging Communities, the corporate social responsibility arm of Globe Telecom, renewed their partnership with the Cordillera Conservation Trust (CCT), a non-stock, non-profit organization dedicated to help preserve the Cordillera mountain ecosystem led by its executive director, JP Alipio.
“Globe is committed to work with local community partners to help restore the Cordillera mountains. With its renewed partnership with Cordillera Conservation Trust (CCT), Globe will support the establishment of 20 seedling nurseries through Roots and Shoots, a nursery building program in public elementary schools. Other Globe Telecom, Inc. sponsored CSR programs like Text2Teach, LEADCOMM (Leadership Communities) and micro-finance mobile banking will also be brought to the province of Benguet,” said Rob I. Nazal, Globe Corporate Social Responsibility Head.
CCT’s Roots and Shoots nursery building program aims to build seedling nurseries in public elementary schools in the Cordillera area. The Globe Cordillera Challenge will not only help support the nurseries but build a community of environmental stewards of students, parents, public officials and volunteers.
Globe Telecom is also set to sign a partnership agreement with Foundation for the Philippine Environment (FPE) this April for the use of mobile technologies in enabling the production, planting and maintenance of 50 million seedlings in 2012. The partnership will help FPE meet their contribution to National Greening Project, an Executive Order signed by President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III in February 2011.
This year’s trail highlight includes conquering two summits: Mt. Cabuyao and Mt. Sto. Tomas. The bike challenge will start at 6 a.m. in Burnham Park, Baguio and bikers will continue on an 11 kilometer-ride to the Mt. Cabuyao Summit PAG-ASA monitoring station. Those aiming for a more challenging ride may continue on to the Mt. Sto. Tomas Summit which involves steep grades, loose rocks, and tricky descents with the best views of the Lingayen Gulf, Mossy and Pine Forests. Riders will receive a wrist band for every station they are able to complete. The high-altitude 27-kilometer bike course will be more challenging than the previous Globe Cordillera rides with over one kilometer of vertical climbing. Bikers will also be given jerseys made of recycled PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) bottles.
The challenge is open to qualified mountain bikers on a first-come, first-served basis and may download the registration form online through the Globe Cordillera Challenge 3 Facebook event page and send their P1,000 donation via GCASH: text DONATE1000MPINCORDI and send to 2882. Donations may also be deposited to the Cordillera Conservation Trust BDO account: Tignayan Para Iti Konserbasyon Ti
Kordilyera with the corresponding account number 5180031673.
